PERSONAL PROTECTION KIT

Individual Biohazard Response Kits for Protection from Blood, Vomit and Other Body Fluids

WHAT ARE PATHOGENS?

As defined in Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary, a pathogen is " a microorganism or substance capable of producing a disease". Although the risks are many, among the more seious risks to those responding to day-to-day exposures, biohazard spills, or other emergencies are HIV ( the virus that causes AIDS ) and Hepatitis. Cycletrol's Personal Protection Kits are designed to minimize that risk.

All body fluids should be considered potentially infectious, especially in a spill situation where the source of the spill or medical background of the victim(s) is unknown. Following is a partial list of body fluids that, when encountered, should be approached with all due respect and suitable protection.

Blood or Blood Products Vomit Semen Urine Vaginal Secretions Uterine fluids from pregnant women Fluids surrounding the brain, spine or joints Fluids in the chest or abdomen Salvia containing visible blood ( such as that encountered in dental procedures ) Any other excertion or secretion

Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)

Personal Protection Equipment is equipment designed to protect the user from contact with potentially infectious material. That equipment may include gloves, masks, aprons, face masks, protective eye wear, footwear or other protective items. The type of protective equipment appropriate for a given task depends on the degree of exposure anticipated. Under normal conditions, protective equipment must not allow potentially infectious material to contact work clothes, street clothes, undergarments, skin, or membranes.

Gard d’Aire Personal Protection Kits ( described below ) are designed to meet or exceed PPE requirements in situations where pathogen contained blood or other body fluids may be encountered. Kits can be modified for individual needs and requirements.

This sealed ready to use response kit provides all the essentials need to respond to a biohazard spill for blood or other body fluids that may contain pathogens which could be a treat to the well being to the responder or others in the immediate area. The kit contains selected items mandated by OSHA ( Occupational Safety and Health Administration ) and CDC ( Center for Disease Control ).
